PCB Connector Types

PCB Connectors enable electronic communications. Signals processed on a PCB require a method to leave the board to another system. This is commonly done using a PCB connector. Winchester Interconnect Micro, formerly known as Ulti-Mate Connector, carries a wide variety of interface options and a deep offering of variations. For example, our Micro-D PCB product offering has 8 sizes for 12 different layout styles and orientations. In addition to the M83513 slash sheets 16 through 27, Winchester also offers various other styles that have become popular for many customers.

Micro PCB Connectors

Winchester Interconnect Micro, formerly known as Ulti-Mate Connector, offers the widest variety of thru-hole solder tail Circuit connectors in the industry. Currently there are twelve styles available. All have mating interfaces per MIL-DTL-83513 and 24 AWG (.020 dia.) exit leads. Styles 6, 16 and styles 8, and 18 are available in the Mil Spec. "M", "B", the narrower plastic "P" profile and mates with the metal shell "A" series. The remaining Styles 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 17, and 19 are in accordance with MIL-DTL-83513 ("M" series only).

Right angle mount connector is a ruggedized replacement for the commercial Micro D versions offered by ITT Cannon and Molex.

Optimal space savings, right angle mount printed circuit board connector. Both styles utilize the same condensed footprint and are recommended for drop in replacement for the MR75 series industry standard.

Condensed right angle mount printed circuit board connector. Spacing between rows is 0.075 on all layouts: Spacing between contacts in any one row is 0.100 on the 9 thru 37 and 0.075 on the 51 and 100 layouts.

Condensed footprint, vertical mount printed circuit board connector. Designed also for flex circuit applications. Row spacing: 0.075: Spacing between contacts for one row is 0.100 on the 9 thru 37 and 0.075 on the 51 and 100 layouts.

VERTICAL .100 X .100 (STYLE 4) CONNECTORS

Vertical mount printed circuit board connector (BS style) with exit leads on a .100 x.100 grid. 9 thru 37 has 2 rows, 51 - 3 rows and the 100 - 4 rows. Style 4 is in accordance with slash sheets 22 thru 27 of MIL-DTL-83513. ("M" series only).

Nano PCB Connectors

As board-level connectors get smaller they become more difficult to process. Hand soldering or the use of a hot bar is still common in low volume production, leading to diminished quality control and low production rates. Size-related difficulties notwithstanding, Nano connectors still need to meet the robust performance requirements to withstand the harsh, high shock and vibration environments in which they will need to perform. Winchester Interconnect Micro uses a one-piece design and offers the most reliable solution for today’s requirements. Stamped and formed from a single piece of metal, our design eliminates most of the production variability from using a bus wire in a surface mount Nano-D. As a result, Winchester surface mount Nano-Ds have an industry leading controlled coplanarity of -0.001” to +0.003.

Micro-D Combo series connectors are a great choice when packaging power or coax with signal contacts is needed. PCB metal shell Micro-D Combo connectors are available in many configurations up to 10 coax or 65 signal positions. Our power contacts are rated to 10 amps and our coax contacts have a 35 Ohm impedance which is suitable for lower frequencies (<2 Ghz).

When space is a major issue, our strip series connectors may be a suitable option. Our Micro and Nano strip series utilizes the same contact system of our M38513 and M32139 QPL connectors, respectively. Additionally, our strip connectors come in a variety of sizes that are not available in traditional Micro-D and Nano-D designs.
